Indirect Fire Thermal Desorption System with Vapor Recovery unit (VRU)Metso Holo Flight Thermal Desorption Unit.This quadruple Holo-Flight, indirect-fire thermal desorption unit is designed for processing various types of contaminated soil, removing and separating from soil contaminates like oil, gasoline, VOC's and other. The Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) allows for the recovery of valuable commodities. The unit will process up to 30T per hour of contaminated soil dependant on the moist and contamination level of the product. The unit will safely operate up to 1,200°F and comes with 20 MMBTU/hr boiler burner unit. The units are fully portable and the individual units are pre-configured and mounted on flatbed trucks reducing the amount of field work required to assemble the components on-site. The list below summarizes the major sub-systems and skid-mounted components:i. Feed System
Feed hopper and screen mounted on top of feed auger. Feed auger transfers material in to the hollow flight unit.
ii. Q-4 Holo-Flight thermal desorption unit
The thermal unit consists of four hollow flight screw augers that are heated through transfer (heat) oil. The material is heated as it comes in to contact with the hollow flight shaft and trough. The unit is 31' long, 7'1" wide and 4' high.
iii. Process Solids Cooling and Discharge System
Screw auger to remove dried material from hollow flight system. Auger has water jacket to cool material to discharge end.
iv. Oil heater unit
Total of 20 Mbtu boiler unit truck mounted for easy mobilization and assembly.
v. Quench Scrubber
Vertical quench scrubber to remove particles in vapor.
vi. Evaporative Cooling Chamber (ECC)
Vertical stainless steel tower scrubber, 40' high 5' dia with counter flow design to condense hydrocarbons.
vii. Cyclonic Separator
Cyclonic separator is used to remove any particulates that may remain in the gas stream before it is send to oxidization chamber.
viii. Chiller system
Chiller system is used to cool scrubber fluid in evaporative cooling tower.
ix. Oil/Water separator
An oil water separator skims the oil of the material discharge from the ECC which can be resold, the water is recycled through the chiller unit and used as quenching and scrubber medium.
x. Thermal Oxidizer
Designed to work at temperature of up to 2,000 °F all remaining gases are oxidized to below EPA standards and released in to atmosphere.
