SRS Mobile Soil Reclamation Unit - designed to clean on-site soils contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons. The unit thermally evaporates petroleum (volatile organic compounds) contaminants and completely oxidizes them in an afterburner. This advanced technology and mobility allows the MSRU to adapt to small or large projects of varying degrees of complexity and soil types in different types of weather. The MSRU provides a cost effective, permanent solution to cleaning contaminated soil. Major features include: on-site treatment of contaminated soils, eliminating hazardous characteristics and allowing soils to be reused. The unit is highly mobile and quickly set up. Processes 15 to 20 tons of soils per hour, temperature range of 300-825 degrees F. Hauck Model Star Jet 25 MMBtu/hr primary burner and a Hauck Model WR5X4 25 MMBTU/hr - after burner. Hauck blower with 25 hp 230/460 V, 3-phase electric motor. Permitted to meet EPA and state standards.
What is soil remediation? Remediation is the process of removing petroleum contaminants such as gasoline, kerosene and fuel oil from soil. The thermal soil remediation process heats the soil in a rotating drum to a temperature high enough to vaporize the contaminants in the soil but not high enough to burn or incinerate it. The vaporized gases and dust, which result from the heating and tumbling in the rotary drum, are routed into an air pollution control device called a baghouse. The baghouse filters and collects the dust, much like a vacuum cleaner bag. The gases, including hydrocarbons released from the soil (hydrocarbons are organic compounds found in petroleum products), are vented next to an air pollution control device called an afterburner or thermal oxidizer. The afterburner operates at a minimum temperature of 1450 F and destroys 99% of the released hydrocarbons. This soil remediation unit is built on a single-trailer frame. Its self-contained unit includes an on-board generator, compressor, fans, blowers, hydraulic system, baghouse, afterburner and control system. |
